Thrill of a lifetime !!

Second day on one of my new jobs: A helicopter ride!! This week, JAARS has a lot of young people (and their parents) volunteering their time. Many have been clearing land at the edge of the air strip. Some are working in the kitchen. Tasks too numerous to list. This afternoon, they had the experience of a helicopter ride. After everyone had flown, there was one empty seat in the last flight; I was invited to join them. What a thrill!! I have never flown in a helicopter before.

First two pictures of the group (from various churches) wearing the T-shirts they designed. Yours truly, third picture. Fourth: A time lag for refueling. Fifth: The helicopter is a black speck against the white cloud. Sixth: Helicopter returning. Seventh & eighth: Pilot. Ninth & tenth: Take off. Eleventh: The runway (obviously). Twelfth: Charlotte, in the distance, lost in the haze. Thirteenth: The little town of Waxhaw. Fourteenth: A steeplechase facility. Fifteenth: Waxhaw Creek Apartments (at JAARS) where, hopefully, I'll get an apartment. Sixteenth: Main buildings at JAARS. Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen: The RV Park. Can you see my tiny T@B, next to the Activity Center, in picture nineteen? Twentieth: Returning. Twenty-first: Sign over the hanger.
